Sian Evans- Saturday 29th July
Throughout the 2000s, Welsh singer & songwriter Sian Evans was known for being a front woman and singer-songwriter of the band Kosheen, a popular & well respected trip-hop/drum’n’bass group that, during that decade, placed two albums within the Top Ten of the U.K. album chart. Kosheen had released five studio albums.
After having spent almost two decades writing and performing with Kosheen, Sian has performed all over the world including Australia, Russia, Japan and the USA to name only a few, as well as countless UK and european festivals.
In 2011, Sian Evans teamed up with Dj Fresh writing and featuring on the number 1 smash hit 'Louder' with sales of over 140,000 in its first week of release and quickly topped the U.K. dance, indie, and pop charts. Since then the single 'Louder' has won many awards including the Urban Music Award for best dance single and has been a worldwide hit. She also penned 'Hot Right Now' for Rita Ora, providing her with her first ever number 1 hit. A month later, Roger Shah released Openminded!?, an album featuring Evans on a handful of tracks.
Taking a step back from the world of electronic music, Sian has teamed up with her long term writing partner Ron McElroy for her new solo project. Their UK debut sold out Camden Jazz Café. They have also performed in Salzburg, Belguim, Ukraine, Russia and sold out the Roof Music Festival in St. Petersburg, this time performing with the whole band. Mixing new works with Sian's substantial back catalogue (including Kosheen and DJ Fresh), they have brought about a perfect musical storm, with rays of sunlight shining through.
Sian’s live performances have always been delivered with her unique ability to convey every lyric to each and every member of her audience with flawless vocals, charismatic charm and boundless enthusiasm. We can't wait to hear her amazing vocals live!
Goldie Lookin' Chain (GLC)- Saturday 29th July
After a string of self released (and now heavily bootlegged) albums, Goldie Lookin' Chain finally broke big in the summer of 2004. Subjected to a bidding war from several major labels, the band signed to Atlantic Records earlier that year, and released the now legendary Greatest Hits album, which reached no 5 in the UK album chart and spawned four top forty hits including the number three smash Guns Don’t Kill People, Rappers Do. The band’s success continued to grow, with appearances at a series of major UK and European festivals as well as a string of headline UK and European tours.
2005 saw the release of the top twenty album Safe As F**k, which once again littered the charts with a new collection of party anthems including the titanic Your Missus Is A Nutter and the romantically tinged RnB. Once again, touring as far afield as Japan, the USA, and a plethora of UK festivals kept the show on the road, and the party continued to grow into a worldwide phenomenon.
The GLC’s popularity continued to spread, yet outrage was sparked when, in 2006, after selling eighty thousand copies of Safe As F**k, the major label bigwigs decided to drop the band and concentrate on other, more namby pamby acts (granted, You are Beautiful is a song that has spawned a thousand children, broken a million hearts and crushed over a billion souls). Fans across the globe were outraged and messages of condolence and support came flooding in from as far a field as Tokyo, Los Angeles and Cwmbran, the home of south Wales’ finest under cover shopping centre.
Nonetheless, the band where not disheartened and put themselves into a self imposed exile whilst deciding which step to take next. During this time, self-sufficiency became the key and the GLC discovered the true meaning of the term ‘rugged individualism’. A communal house was rented in Newport, and the band went back to the drawing board, creating a new catalogue of musical delights.
By day, members of the band worked simple jobs in order to keep the GLC cogs oiled and running smoothly. Not even illness and a near death experience could slow down the creative whirlwind that was going on behind the doors of the residential equivalent of Abbey Road. Samples were replaced with real instruments, scribbled lyrics became word documents, and at one point the band even worked towards creating the ultimate male voice choir.
With the self Released ASBO 4 Life, GLC took it back from the now crumbling major Labels and continued to rock hard, followed up by the now legendary "Mixtape 2" and one of the uks most Christmassy Christmas albums "Its a Goldie Lookin Christmas (The Fairytale of Newport)" GLC continue to rock Live music venues and international Festivals the World over. We welcome GLC's brand of alternative rap to Atlas!
Rose Betts- Saturday 29th July
Currently residing in South London with her band, she’s been tirelessly refining her skills and taking SOFAR Sounds by storm.
Taking inspiration from the rain running in SW12 gutters, the moon rising over Camberwell and winter in a bustling city. There’s an unshakable, wholesome quality about Rose that makes her music, her sound and presence feel so wonderful.

They sing a capella as well as with shaman drums and other ethnic instruments (shruti box, kalimba, flute, gong, zaphir and koshi chimes, singing bowls, rattles etc.), creating a new space in a traditional song, adding voice improvisations, inspired by sounds of nature, often intuitive, wild and feminine.

N-Trance- Saturday 29th July
Kevin O’Toole and Dale Longworth formed N-Trance in 1990 after meeting at the Oldham College, where they were both studying sound engineering. They had been using a variety of monikers such as Quartech, but eventually settled on signing their record contract as N-Trance.
The band continued to write and record music after problems with the sample clearance prevented their song Back To The Bass from ever being released as a single. It was decided a female vocalist was needed for future records, so sixteen year old Kelly Llorenna was drafted in.
By now, N-Trance had developed their live shows and were gaining some popularity, and on their new label Set You Free was finally released in 1993, but failed to enter the Top 40, reaching #83 in the charts. A year later Set You Free was re-released achieving a higher chart position of #39. N-Trance’s next single was a Eurodance song called Turn Up The Power which featured vocals from Rachel McFarlane of Loveland, and a rap by T-1K, reaching #23 on the charts.
After a few years of performing live in the UK, N-Trance’s popularity and the reception towards Set You Free had increased significantly. The record was in popular demand, and after a third release of the song in 1995, the single became a huge hit, being played by television and radio stations. It reached #2 in the charts and was certified Platinum in the UK after selling over 600 000 copies. The single was also released in other European countries and Australia.
The group recorded their first full-length album, Electronic Pleasure, in November 1995, which featured seven of the group’s ever-expanding roster of vocalists (including David Grant), and musicians such as Vinny Burns and Snake Davis. Similarly, N-Trance’s musical range expanded, embracing rap, disco and other styles in its scope. The group’s next single, a surprising cover of the Bee Gees hit Stayin’ Alive, was not only a massive international hit but also featured a vocalist who would help define N-Trance’s sound in the future, the remarkable Ricardo Da Force, former rapper of the KLF. Upon its release in the UK, it debuted at # 2 and internationally became one of the biggest UK exports of 1995, reaching #1 in Australia and being top 5 in a number of European charts.
The release of further commercially successful singles afforded N-Trance the possibility of building their own recording studio and in 1996 Deep Blue was born. They spent the following year and a half recording their second full-length album, Happy Hour, which was released in 1999.
Hit singles from the album included cover versions of Rod Stewart’s Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?, Ottawan’s D.I.S.C.O and the hardcore techno clatter of The Mind of the Machine, which featured the actor Steven Berkoff. A Best of album entitled The Best of N-Trance 1992–2002 was released in early 2001, backed by a trance remix of Set You Free which reached #4.
A couple of years ago the group released The Mind Of The Machine as their third album. Two new tracks, Free Running and The Earth Is Dying, were recorded for the album to go with the recordings previously made in 1997. The album was released as digital download only. That same year, the group announced they were re-inventing themselves with the new singer Lynsey-Jane Barrow and with the return of Dale Longworth.
With rumours in the air about a fourth album, N-Trance keep pushing the boundaries with their epic sounds, spectacular vocalists and overall brilliant performances. We can’t wait to hear them at Atlas!
Tall Paul- Saturday 29th July
Legendary DJ Tall Paul, began his career in the late 80s, playing for private parties at his family’s venue, Turnmills. In 1992 Paul put out his first vinyl offering – the white label ‘Love Rush’, a Trade anthem. He then hooked up with Hooj Choons’ Red Jerry and came up with the dance classic “Rock Da House,” and then went on to produce numerous top 20 hits including the club anthems Escrima “Deeper” and “Train of Thought”, and his highest entry to date, Camisra “Let Me Show You”, which entered at No. 5. All this lead to a series of remix projects for artists such as New Order, Stone Roses, Erasure, Human League, K Klass, Wild Child, Energy 52, Duran Duran, Nalin & Kane, Blondie, Bizarre Inc, Keane and The Killlers

Rui da Silva- Sunday 30th July
Producer, DJ, record label boss and musical innovator.
Rui Da Silva is an electronic music producer. He runs Kismet Records, his own, successful, independent music label.
2001 saw his music leap from club to radio when his song ‘Touch Me’ became an international number one single. Today he continues to produce club tracks and experimental electronic music, as he puts it, “trying to change the sound and evolve as staying still gets me bored”. He has recently produced and written with Queen of Hearts, Tamra Keenan, AniMal, Ruby Goe, Aggro Santos and Ayah Marah. Recent remixes include the Alexandra Burke single ‘Let it go’, Chris Willis forthcoming single ‘Rock DJ Superstar’ and Rock band Thousand Foot Crutch ‘Courtesy Call’. His remix of ‘New Times’ by DJ Wild with the prolific Clive Henry received critical acclaim and was made record of the week in the DMC magazine during September 2012.
And the future? More production of course he says; “If I don’t do music I feel agitated. Trying to learn a little bit more. Making music is like cooking, you must plan it, and you need to source the right ingredients. But if you cook all the time you can start experimenting. The best part of the creative process comes from mistakes but to make a track you must also be organised, it’s the pull between these two poles that makes a great song!”

Jimmy K- Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July
With appearances in the United States, Ibiza, Cyprus and all over the UK, including EggLDN, a key club for the House Music scene, the journey has been a long one for J.
He gained experience playing Drum and Bass music initially, at establishments like Mass Club and Bug Bar in Brixton, in London, also spreading North to Leeds and playing at Stylus club and Majestic for the promotion 'Innovation' thrown in amongst the top players in the game, line ups you would only dream of!
Music at a slower tempo was always in the background however and J's interest broadened onto a range of different genres and House Music, specifically the 'chunkier' Tech House.
Surrounded by people like DJ Double O, Lee Marks, Dan Genal and Ed Case from State Unknown, this was only natural.
With regular appearances on 'Flex FM', 'Life FM' and guest appearances on other stations, he returned home to 'IceCold', an old pirate radio station he started on at 15 years old, now an internet based station, reaching a global audience of thousands worldwide. He hosts his Sunday Rehab Show, that plays Upfront House and Tech House Music. Within the show, he includes regular guest appearances from label signed producers and established DJs; people he knows well and has regular contact with.
Now working from home on his solo production projects, but also in a Soho recording studio with Producer and DJ One Six (Cr2, Stealth Records and featuring music on a Toolroom Records Ibiza compilation), formerly part of massive Electro House Music collective 'Stupid Fresh’. Also remixing work on his own, for House duo State Unknown (Concrete Digital, Favouritism Recordings and featuring music on a Simma Black Records compilation), he has just finished a massive bootleg remix in conjunction with State Unknown, of Dawn Penn's ‘You don't love me’ and also a solo production three track ep of his, due for release in the summer on their independent label.
Jimmy K is definitely a fixture to stay within the scene and is only going in one positive direction!
